The summer of 2015 saw the
beginning of a new project for me; a two-piece experiment called Sham, with me
playing guitar and shouting, and Mark Warmington (whom I had formed my childhood
band Pond with back in 1996) on drums and backing vocals.
The idea was just to do some music, despite us both being
aware of our considerable limitations as players. To date, it has been a lot of fun, as well as
cathartic, a welcome date in the diary each week when the two of us can let off
some steam and bask in the racket we both make.
The more we do it, the
more we feel we might be able to produce something we’re proud of. We’re not particularly proficient, but we won’t
let that get in our way of having a good time and making music. One should never let being able to play your instruments get in the way of groundbreaking music.
